EN856 4SH and 4SP are both four-layer steel wire spiral hydraulic hoses. They look similar, but the difference shows in pressure rating and application.
4SP: medium-high pressure systems, generally lower working pressure than the same size in 4SH, with better bend performance; commonly used in auxiliary circuits of construction machinery.
4SH: ultra-high pressure service, higher working pressure and impulse life requirements at the same bore; used for mining hydraulic supports, shield machines and heavy-duty equipment.
Three selection steps: 1) confirm maximum working pressure and peak surge, rated pressure of the hose must exceed the peak; 2) confirm medium, temperature range and minimum bend radius — an insufficient bend radius sharply cuts impulse life; 3) confirm end fittings and crimping method, as crimp quality decides where the failure point appears.
